The Butterfly House is a creative club for families in Lugano, thoughtfully designed for families to connect, create, and grow together. We offer weekly workshops and experiences that inspire both children and adults from hands-on photography and art sessions to seasonal events and cozy family gatherings. Children are invited to explore in our inspiring playroom and participate in curated creative workshops, while parents can join adult classes, enjoy a coffee in our lounge, or simply take a mindful pause as their little ones play nearby.
This isn’t a daycare, a cafe or a co-working space, it’s something gentler. A place to be present, to make something meaningful, and to experience a little magic… together.

Butterfly Babies: Wednesdays Mornings for New Mamas
A quiet welcome into motherhood.
Each Wednesday morning 9am to 11am, we open our doors to mothers with newborns (0–12 months) for a complimentary visit. Join us in a serene, thoughtfully designed space where you can rest, connect, and ease into the day, no rush, no pressure. Simply a beautiful place to be, with your baby by your side.
Featured Workshop
Children are invited to explore their imagination through guided activities, crafts, and photography sessions, learning to use their devices with purpose, not distraction. Not just “more screen time” this is creative device use with intention. Children learn to use their phones or cameras as a tool, not a distraction. Each workshop blends creative art direction with professional guidance, empowering kids to compose, style, and capture their own visual stories. Small group sizes ensure every child is seen, supported, and celebrated. Along the way, they build confidence, express themselves through hands-on projects, and take home something they’ve created with pride.
Small groups of up to 10 students per session. Tuition: CHF 495* per child for the full 12 weeks program

A gentle and joyful introduction to photography through play. Children will explore shapes, colors, and emotions while going on photo walks, making art with their pictures, and discovering how to tell stories without words.

A hands-on creative workshop that teaches real photography skills in a fun and supportive way. Kids will learn how to use light, frame a great shot, and tell a visual story, all while editing, crafting, and building their own mini photo portfolio. At The Butterfly House, our mission is to create a space that honors both motherhood and identity where women don’t have to choose between being present with their children and staying connected to their own creativity, community, and rhythm.
We imagined something softer than childcare, more intentional than play a place where mothers can work, rest, or simply be, while their children explore in a beautiful, age-conscious environment.
Meet Lucia
Founder of The Butterfly House · Photographer · Creative Director · Mother
Lucia Viana is a multidisciplinary creative with a heart for beauty, community, and meaningful design. As a mother and founder of several creative ventures, she understands the quiet balance women seek to care for others while staying connected to themselves. The Butterfly House was born from that longing a space where mothers can gather without guilt, children can play without overstimulation, and creativity is part of everyday life.
With roots in Brazil and the U.S., Lucia has lived in Singapore, Paris, London, Zurich, and now Ticino, shaping a global perspective grounded in emotional design and respect for motherhood. Through Lucia Viana Studios, she offers storytelling workshops for families and children. She also co-founded Sole Event Planning with her friend Josefine, bringing intention and beauty to every gathering.
For Lucia, The Butterfly House is more than a space it’s a place to pause, to grow, and to feel at home.
Meet Josefine
Co-Founder of Sole Event Planning · Mother · Creative Soul
Originally from Sweden, Josefine has spent much of her life supporting her family across continents — from the U.S. to Russia, and now Ticino, where she’s raising two children, ages 6 and 9.
With her children growing more independent, she’s stepping into a new chapter — one rooted in creativity, growth, and rediscovery. She met Lucia at their children’s international school, and together they founded Sole Event Planning to create intentional, beautiful experiences for families.
For Josefine, The Butterfly House represents a personal transformation — a place to reconnect with herself, build something meaningful, and embrace this season of motherhood with purpose and creativity.
